Stug III

But this isn’t the Stug 3/4 you typically think of, with side skirts, a longer gun, and interesting camo schemes. That all came much later.
This is the early-war Stug, the type Michael Wittman had during Operation Barbarossa. We’ll talk about Early-War German Tanks and logistics later. I have a lot of unpopular opinions, and that’s how you know they’ll make an interesting discussion!
But more important than tanks? See the cute little horse? That’s because I want you to do something.
Take that image in your mind of Barbarossa, with hordes of Axis Tanks advancing endlessly into the Russian Steppe.
Replace at least half of those tanks with horses, mules, and donkeys carrying carts and supplies, and even more guys having to march it out on foot. Because that’s what it actually was like.
