C1 Ariete

The C1 Ariete was lighter and slightly smaller than its family members in NATO.
It was designed to be light, manoeuvrable, and fit for the mountainous terrain that dominates so much of Italy. It entered service in 1995 and has been around ever since.
Designing quirky tanks to fit the country is nothing new to Italy, a common thing people don’t know about the country in WW2 is that it went to war with the wrong equipment. Things like the CV-33, the Carro Armato M13/40 and others were built with the same concerns as the Ariete.

…..It’s just that with the Ariete they got it right this time.
